FINCOM
Meeting Minutes
November 20,2025

DPW requests $11,706.69 to repair the Town Hall emergency generator.
The Committee discussed a request from the Department of Public Works (DPW) for
$11,706.69 from the FY2026 Finance Committee’s Reserve Fund to repair the Town Hall
emergency generator. Town Manager Rodney Collins explained that the generator’s control
board had failed and required replacement. Without the functioning control board, the
generator must be started manually during a power outage, which poses operational
concerns, particularly if no sta? are present during weekends or after hours. The
committee was reminded that Town Hall can serve as a warming station—though not a
shelter—during emergencies, making automatic generator functionality especially
important as winter approaches.
Collins emphasized that the request was both unanticipated and urgent due to the nature
of the equipment failure.
Motion made by Greg McKelvey to approve the DPW request of $11,706.69 to repair the
Town Hall emergency generator.
Motion seconded by Darlene Furbush.
Motion passes 6-0
ROLL CALL VOTE
Je?rey Pettengill, yes; Greg McKelvey, yes; Richard Weiner, yes; Anne Schnader, yes;
Darlene Furbush, yes; Keith Machado, yes.
DPW requests $27,845.00 to pay Licensed Site Professional services and cleanup for
diesel spill.

The Committee reviewed the DPW’s request for $27,845.00 from the FY2026 Reserve Fund
to cover Licensed Site Professional services and cleanup costs associated with a diesel
spill. Town Manager Rodney Collins explained that the straps securing the fuel tank on a
department truck had failed, causing approximately 35 gallons of diesel fuel to spill onto
the roadway. Because any spill over 10 gallons must be reported to the Department of
Environmental Protection (DEP), a formal cleanup was required. The incident was
unanticipated and resulted in significant expense. Collins assured the Finance Committee
that corrective actions have been taken to prevent recurrence, including more rigorous
inspections and prompt remediation of any identified defects.
3
