HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2025
11:OOAM, via Zoom
PRESENT: Lynne Barbee (Chair), Heidi McLaughlin (Vice Chair), Karen Yetra (Clerk), Mary
Bradbury, Sandra Pacheco
Gail Wilson (Director of Human Services)
Absent: Kasey Sheehan, Tracy Wilson
Guest: Rhonda Garran, Executive Director, Sight Loss Services
CALL TO ORDER 11:05am by Lynne Barbee
PUBLIC COMMENT none
OLD BUSINESS
Mary Bradbury moved to accept the September 19, 2025 minutes. Heidi McLaughlin seconded
the motion. Unanimous approval followed.
NEW BUSINESS
Presentation by Sight Loss Services, Executive Director, Rhonda Garran
Sight Loss Services is a small non-profit providing services to individuals on Cape Cod who
struggle with visual impairments. The Mashpee Senior Center has an active group led by Lisa
Judelson. Rhonda noted that services are offered to those residents who are 55+ but will assist
others in need as well.
SLS is currently in the process of rebuilding their website which will help support other groups
across the Cape with referrals to other agencies, assistance with adaptive aids such as
magnifiers and special lighting. In most cases, the needed equipment is not covered by health
insurance, so much of the equipment is loaned to the client.More than anything else, the
emotional support that these groups provide is critically important to the clients and their
families. The influx of retirees to the Cape has increased the need for equipment and support.
