of TMs s,s
z.
Aannin Board
c
16 Great Neck Road North
.wlashpee, Aassachusetts 02649
In addition, Mr. Tobin would like to add a written text in a breakout box about the Wildlife
Refuge, after the recreation, under existing conditions, in 7.2.4 Open Space Inventory, and
expand on it there.
Ms. Faulkner asked about OS12 and the pursuing of Pickerel Cove. Ms. Waygan answered
she will bring the CPC meeting minutes. The CPA recommended this to Town Meeting, money
was set aside, and the deal was never struck. The CPC is recommending taking the money
back to add to the reserve fund. It doesn't mean in two years it won't come back to us. It will be
a great spot someday, it could not work out this time, but a lot of that was in Executive Session
and those minutes will be released at some point.
OS22, 475 Nathan Ellis Hwy being purchased, now the goal is to figure out what to do with it.
Ms. Waygan noted some ideas have been floated to use it as a Visitors' Center or for Friends
of the Refuge, but ultimately, we would like swimming there.
OS17 should read restore instead of improve.
OS19 reads to establish a Select Board policy that requires the protection of scenic and
natural views when citing town facilities. The Chair described the road to the beach and initial
water view being disrupted by an ugly concrete building at Mashpee Pond, thus requiring a
policy for the Select Board to ensure when the town puts in a structure, it would help maintain
our beaches' beauty and not inhibit the natural beauty.
Ms. Faulkner added to the sentiment of natural beauty, the pump station that is a complete eye
sore by Sprout Farm. It is a monstrosity that she is concerned is devaluing properties, with
minimal vegetation, and she would like some language to deter that, it needs to be covered.
(It was noted to add to the Facilities chapter, an action for the Select Board to have a policy
where town facilities are designed and constructed to be attractive and beautiful, matching the
natural beauty of our Town and aesthetics of Cape Cod.)
OS23 add develop a plan to protect the open space created by cluster subdivisions. Our bylaw
changed, now you must put a conservation restriction on open space created by cluster
subdivisions, but that wasn't always the case. If we are updating the Open Space and Rec
Plan, which should identify finding mechanisms for land purchases and preservation, including
mechanisms to protect open space created by cluster subdivisions.
4
