Select Board
December 8,2025
Minutes

The Select Board discussed a request regarding Quinaquisset Avenue, to rescind the speed
limit originally established in 1972. Approval of the amendment would establish a speed
limit of 30 mph on Quinaquisset Avenue, designating it as a thickly settled area.

Chair Wyman-Colombo inquired whether the speed limit could be further reduced to 25
mph. Laurent responded that a reduction to 25 mph is permitted on a case-by-case basis,
noting that enforcement considerations are important, as drivers often exceed posted limits.
She added that many communities across the Commonwealth have been evaluating
reductions of thickly settled area speed limits to 25 mph and that such reductions can be
implemented on a street-by-street basis. It was further clarified that the purpose of the
action before the Board was to amend the existing speed limit regulation and eliminate the
outdated speed limit designation.

Motion made by Selectman Weeden to amend special speed regulation 309A dated Jan
14,1972 to omit Quinaquisset Avenue with a new classification of a thickly settled area
and a speed limit of 30mph.
Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton.

Vote: 5-0 Unanimous
Roll Call Vote
Selectwoman Wyman-Colombo-yes
Selectman Weeden-yes
Selectman Cotton-yes
Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson-yes
Selectman Richardson- yes
Signing of Funding Contract with MA O?ice of Fishing & Boating Access for Mashpee-
Wakeby Boat Ramp Stormwater Improvements
8
