IMP. IMBO
d"fr,,{ynr,fw VhP.
w Mashpee lncCusion and'Diversity Committee
16 Great Neck Road -Vort(-
MasGtpee, M-A 02649
At Mashpee Night Out, herself and Mr. Kupferman gave out affirmation stickers. She will give
some to the students to hand out, display, or get inspiration.
Cemetery Request
Mohamad Zefzaf got a response from the Town Manager who forwarded his proposal to the
Cemetery Commission. He will meet with them after their review. The Commission doesn't
meet regularly but they have a request now.
Ms. Landry was informed about a recent Muslim burial by the DPW Director, after she inquired
about the cemetery proposal.
NEW BUSINESS
Tribal Representative Support
Our current Tribal member Winnie is at a Tribal meeting in Seattle. Her current role in the Tribe
has changed and she has more responsibilities now. This sparked the idea of having an
alternate, so another representative could be assigned and attend when the other cannot. The
Chair will formally write to Brian Weeden and copy Ms. Johnson Graham, and they can work
on that together.
Future Speakers
There are some reservations after the fallout from Indivisible. The Chair thinks it's important to
gather information and listen to what these groups have to say, we do not need to act. She
inquired if anyone had other ideas for groups or individuals to speak.
Mr. Klein wants to recommend a teacher working in the Falmouth school system with kids and
diversity. He will send her an invitation to the December meeting.
Ms. Landry suggested the Committee consider hosting educational speakers for the
community, as this aligns with the committee's purpose.
New Member
Chair contacted the Select Board's office; there will be an announcement in December about
current vacancies. She put an announcement on three Mashpee facebook pages and got a
response. Awoman contacted the office, and she is going to send in a resume and cover letter.
She is a young African American mother with a child in the schools, and this would be a
wonderful addition.
3
