Her opposition is not about the store, Trader Joes has many fans. People in town would love to see the store in Mashpee. This is not a hearing before the Chamber, the Planning Boards job is different. They should not be moved by popularity, but evaluate suitability and the proposal. This comes up short. This market must be shoe horned into a land locked parcel at the center of our congested area, a retail magnet that will bring increased problems. She has seen the study and simulation, and she is not convinced. We will all bear results of additional traffic, none more so than the businesses at Deer Crossing. Surely the goal is to facilitate commercial growth, but where and if it does not adversely affect. Roslyn Robinson Mann — She is a resident of Shellback Way building A, she agrees with that previous comment. She loves Trader Joes, but this is about safety and the Deer Crossing condos, we have one way out and one way in. She has been there about 8 years, shellback becomes residential in a short time. When going past Ace Hardware you have the cut to the right. She walks down there and it doesn't seem like there is enough room, especially with the popularity. This will be a parking mess. We don't have many residents here tonight; a lot of people go south in winter, which means a lot of people are not here to speak on this. Going forward, if there is some way to put this on the screen, that would be helpful. She asks for an open mind and to look at other properties. As it is, in the summer it takes forever to get anywhere. Annie Tabor— She lives in building B on Shellback Way. What she has not heard yet is how the winter conditions affect the traffic on this small road. She doesn't need to say Shellback has a small entrance, on normal days cars have to pull over more, especially up where the road becomes much more narrow, it functions like a single lane rather than two lanes. We get snow. The traffic study looked at normal conditions and summer, but doesn't address snow accumulation reducing available space for travel, and parking. Residents also like to walk. She loves this store but is opposed to this location. MOTION: Mr. Balzarini made a motion to continue the Public Hearing to March 4, 2026 at 6:40PM. Seconded by Mr. Millbury. All in favor.
