7 Town of Mashpee Conservation Commission
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, MA 02649
w$XJI:YYF.µ'1
NOI North Mashpee-Wakeby Pond Regional Satellite Facility & Collection System,
Town of Mashpee. Proposed installation of individual lateral connections and grinder pumps
across approximately 50 parcels, minor trenching, and restoration. (Representative: GHD, Inc.) 43-
3405
Marc Draville of GHD presented the Notice of Intent for the North Mashpee—Wakeby Regional Satellite Facility
and Collection System, following the Commission's prior direction to file. The project involved installation of a
shallow sewer collection system, with piping generally installed at a depth of approximately five feet.
Work was proposed to occur primarily within buffer zones, with most impacts associated with inland bank
buffers and some wetland buffer areas. While wetlands and vernal pools were present within the project area, no
direct impacts to vernal pools were proposed, as work would be limited to surrounding buffer zones. The NOI
included detailed calculations of temporary disturbance areas within these resource areas.
The Commission discussed construction methods and potential environmental impacts, including erosion control
and monitoring. GHD indicated that standard erosion control measures, such as silt socks and fencing, would be
used and that construction would be monitored by engineering field representatives, with reports provided to the
Conservation Department.
Additional discussion focused on protecting catch basins during roadway work and addressing potential erosion
along steep driveways and lateral connections, with stabilization measures to remain in place until vegetation
was reestablished. Inland bank boundaries were developed through modeling rather than field flagging, using a
conservative approach. GHD stated that dewatering was not anticipated, as most work would occur above the
water table.
Construction was expected to begin in July and continue for approximately two years, with installation of laterals
occurring over a shorter portion of that timeline.
MOTION: To close an issue with North Mashpee-Wakeby Pond Reginal Satellite Facility &
Collection System with the following conditions:
1. Use of heavy-duty silt fencing for erosion control
2. Weekly monitoring reports
3. Reports submitted to Conservations staff
4. Immediate notification to Conservation Department in the event that dewatering
becomes necessary in order to allow staff to assess potential impacts
Motion by: Richard Sahl Seconded bv: Sandi Godfrey
Vote: Motion passed by unanimous vote.
(Steve Cook,Paul Colombo, Sandi Godfrey, Richard Sahl)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOI 168 Whippoorwill Circle, Katie Tully & Stephen Pidgeon.
