The Town is still operating with a general hiring freeze in place, but circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on the funding source for certain positions—such as a revolving or enterprise account. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY UPDATE Joan Lyons reported that the Friends met at the library in March, and they are excited aboutthe completion of the Children's Room. Chair Geatrakas was there as well. The mini golf event during April school vacation will be held on April 23rd. The author event at Willowbend, featuring Emily Franklin, will be held October 15th. Her newest book, Love & Other Monsters, will be released in April. TRUSTEE WORK SESSION Outreach Presentation The Library Director commented that the Board should consider the audience and may want to have variations with differing lengths of time. Ann Macdonald noted the date for the Southport presentation is May 19, 2026 from 11 :OOAM-12:OOPM. Joan Lyons stated the Kiwanis Club is interested in having the Trustees present at a future meeting. They are meeting at the Mashpee Rotary at The Picnic Box on April 2nd at 7:30AM. Meetings run 15 minutes to a half hour long, and there are about 15 members. Chair Geatrakas would like to include photos that accentuate the Children `s Room renovation. The Kiwanis Club's mission is helping children.We want to focus on each group differently and customize the presentation accordingly. The Trustees and Library Director discussed other possible groups and organizations for scheduling outreach visits. ADDITIONAL TOPICS It was stated that the Board should have a means to bring up topics for the upcoming meeting. It was suggested, if a member has an agenda item to add to a future agenda, send an e-mail to the Library Director and the Chair and let them know.
