About 10% of the wing deploys <br />forward while the remainder maintains base operations. <br /> Colonel Kelly discussed plans for a small substation to support operational needs and <br />noted that the Air Force funds maintenance and environmental oversight. Board members <br />inquired about environmental issues and site management, and Colonel Kelly o?ered to <br />coordinate with the base and environmental team to address these concerns. <br />Ron Miller provided an update on Coast Guard operations at JBCC and Cape Cod. He noted <br />that 100 acres on the north end of JBCC are active, with approximately 135 active-duty <br />personnel and 70 contractors on site, tracking about 50 missile launches from locations <br />including the North and South Poles. He highlighted the base’s role in national defense and <br />its positive impact on the local economy, contributing approximately $6.3 million annually, <br />as well as strong collaboration with academia. Miller also described Coast Guard Air <br />Station Cape Cod, the second-largest base in the region after Kodiak, Alaska, which <br />provides fisheries support, marine security, and safety operations. The station operates 40 <br />aircraft with 200 active-duty personnel and 12 civilians, and it is the only Coast Guard- <br />owned airport with a maintained airspace. He noted that the station is highly regarded, <br />allowing flight operations in challenging weather, and emphasized its long-standing <br />presence and historic significance in New England. <br />COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Review of Letter of Interest: Contractor Vacancy on Mashpee Planning & <br />Construction Committee (Term Expires June 30, 2028) – Pete Collura <br />The Select Board reviewed a letter of interest from Pete Collura for the contractor vacancy <br />on the Mashpee Planning & Construction Committee, with a term expiring June 30, 2028. <br />Collura expressed interest in supporting the committee, citing six years of experience in <br />construction management, a family history of service on boards, and a desire to contribute <br />to public stewardship and safety in Mashpee. Town Manager Rodney Collins explained that <br />committee participation is on an as-needed basis and facilitated through the DPW Director <br />Motion made by Selectman Cotton to appoint Pete Collura to the Mashpee Planning & <br />Construction Committee to fill the Contractor vacancy. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Richardson. <br />Vote: 5-0 Unanimous <br />6 <br /> <br /> <br />
