of TMs s,s
z.
Aannin Board
c
16 Great Neck Road North
wlashpee, Aassachusetts 02649
provide jobs, add to our taxes, and provide some competition to our community. She would like
the Board to vote to allow this project to move forward.
The Picnic Box Owner, Kerry Munroe- This is addressed to the Planning Board. She saw
part of the possible traffic mitigation modifications to the entranceway of her establishment and
Smitty's at the Mashpee Rotary. She has owned and operated her restaurant at this location
with a lease from Mashpee Commons, and was not informed or advised about any
modifications, including proposed striping, which could impact her business. She is requesting
a meeting with the Board, Commission, and traffic engineers to discuss mitigations that may
impact access to their business.
Mr. Tobin noted the upcoming rotary project will solicit Public Comment for that project.
Mr. Balzarini stated he is ready to close this out, it has been too long. If there is worry about
traffic, minds won't change, no matter how many times they come back. He noted this being
Mr. Oakley's last meeting and wanting him to be able to vote on this matter.
Ms. Waygan would like the Town Planner to draft the decision, and we can keep the Public
Hearing open while the decision is being drafted, to allow for further discussion.
Mr. Milbury credited Mr. Hansen's expertise and his ability to take over. There is still a question
about Shellback Way and that intersection. He doesn't want to belabor, but he does want to
take the time and go the extra mile to try and solve some prickly traffic issues. Traffic was the
only thing the Commission was concerned about.
Mr. Tobin noted the Public Hearing can be open until next meeting, and the Board can plan on
taking a vote at the following meeting.
Ms. Waygan instructed Mr. Tobin to craft a decision for review at the next meeting. If the
decision is something we can vote on, they will likely do so. She likes to have a written
decision so the proponent can review it as well. If the hearing is closed and questions remain,
they cannot be asked.
Mr. Balzarini doesn't know what other questions we have for them at this point. We know about
more traffic, Route 28 is a state highway, thus controlled by the state, Route 28 wont get any
wider.
Mr. Oakley thinks the Board is extremely close but there are a few items that Ms. Faulkner, Mr.
Milbury, and Mr. Tobin are wanting to review further, he would like those resolved and
everything covered before the vote. But he agrees, the data is the data, and traffic is not
getting better.
30
