of TMs s,s
z.
Aannin Board
c
16 Great Neck Road North
.wlashpee, Aassachusetts 02649
Hyannis. If the store were to come to Mashpee, that is money that stays in Mashpee, that is
economic development. Traffic control can involve coordinating with local police. This is less
about new information and more about delaying decisions. Move forward, she strongly
supports bringing Trader Joes to Mashpee.
Ms. Waygan asked if Trader Joes ever had a police officer for traffic control. She also asked if
corporate would amplify smaller mom-and-pop stores in the area. She also asked about
business hours and what time the store closes.
Mr. Morrisson with Trader Joes will come back to the next meeting with that information. He
has discussed reaching out and partnering with other local businesses, it's something Trader
Joes is happy to do. They talked about business hours and deliveries, and they close at
9:OOPM. He knows other stores that have worked with operations about deliveries, their intent
is to have two major deliveries in the evening to avoid morning issues. In the documentation
today you may see certain times of year, maybe around a holiday where things are busier,
then a third primary delivery would be necessary. They do their best to avoid unwanted hours
and nothing before 7:OOAM.
Jack Loughman- He is in opposition; there is too much chaos and confusion on Route 28 and
around Deer Crossing. He would be happy to support this if they were willing to build in a safer
and easier to reach location. People who advocate for this store do not live in the immediate
area and they would not have to deal with the noise and confusion. This will add to the two
lanes of traffic that access the only entryway to their home.
Elizabeth Beaupied- She lives on Shellback Way and has attended meetings at Town Hall.
She is impressed with the developer, and she had concerns about the noise, light pollution,
and soil erosion behind buildings B and C. She noted the landscaping design and delivery
truck times. Board members speak for their community and what being a good neighbor is
while considering delivery times. She really appreciates the revised plans about moving the
entrance. She would appreciate a left turn only at the exit, noting a private road, or no entry
sign at the entrance of Deer Crossing. She asked them to consider a metered traffic light be
installed across the road to time the light down at the intersection. She is in favor of this project
and is excited to have this at her doorstep, she knows of others who are thrilled. The only
element that troubles her is access. She thanked the Board for time spent on this.
Erica Barrett- She notes development in Mashpee has risen. She referenced economic health
and wellbeing, as well as the primary benefit being Trader Joe's unique price structure and
affordability, she saves a lot of money. This property is zoned for commercial purposes.
Location works both ways and we should learn from our neighbors. Tree House Brewing was
built in that small beach neighborhood in Sandwich, and it is a great addition. Trader Joes will
29
