IMBO
w Afforda6Ce Housing Committee
16 Great Neck RoadJVorth
Mashyee, M-A 0264.9
Denise Geoffrion made a motion to approve the meeting dates for the rest of the
year for the Affordable Housing Committee. Seconded by Jerry Tutor. All in favor.
Completion of the Massachusetts Conflict of Interest Law Training Course
All Town Employees are asked to complete this course. Ms. Geoffrion completed it, Mr. Tutor
will need some help accessing the link. Mr. Putterman requires new account setup, and he will
follow up with the Town Clerk.
Update of AHC Mission Statement and Review of Optimal Structure to Support
Mashpee's Affordable Housing needs
Michael Sparkes met with Alexis Lanzillotta with Barrett Planning Group and Brian Tobin, Town
Planner. She was knowledgeable with the speaker series kickoff and will lead this effort by
helping to pull together documents for review and development.
Chair Sparkes would like to have a brainstorming session to help structure the AHC and AHT
intersection. Additional resources, such as staffing or a Land Trust, may result from that
meeting. He wanted to distribute the plan to help guide a timeline for working sessions, how
they will be structured, broken down across three months. They can use the DLTAfunds
through June 30t". At the end of May is the quarterly meeting with the Affordable Housing Trust
and Select Board, and he can provide an update. He would like to utilize the funds, any
additional available resources, and get something on paper for this Committee to review.
Use of Al in Affordable Housing Development Opportunities — Potential Demo
Sharon Muller distributed a potential Al resource for this Committee, to extract data and
answer questions, like showing town owned properties slated for town sewer by the end of
phase 2. This tool could help expand search efforts for potential properties. There may be a
presentation of these materials after the Speaker Series wraps up.
Ms. Geoffrion expressed some concern. She assumes this would be applied to public records,
like the Accessors Maps, Registry of Deeds, and names of trusts and ownership, which is all
public information. However, she tried to do a translation earlier using three different Al
programs, and the result was three different translations. She has no idea of the accuracy of
this tool.
Mr. Tutor and Mr. Putterman both like the idea of using Al.
Mr. Sparkes agreed, he would like to ensure accuracy. When looking at the parcels by the
100's and 1,000's, if data can be extracted to present a dozen potentials, it will save efforts.
We can focus on parcels greater than 4 acres on sewer. Once we collect the data, we can
further verify. He doesn't want to dismiss the value in this, but he would need to see the cost.
2
