Town of Mashpee Conservation Commission 16 Great Neck Road North Mashpee, MA 02649 John's Pond had not undergone a diagnostic study in many years, and Moody Pond had never received such a study. Discussion also noted the close relationship between the two ponds and their historical hydrologic connection. It was further stated that a draft support letter could be prepared for Chair signature and submitted to the Community Preservation Committee as part of the application materials.No opposition to the request was expressed by Commission members. Mr. Kent stated that an unpermitted dock had been identified in Shoe String Bay near Quiniquissett Avenue and that the matter was under review. Additional discussion addressed storm debris consisting of tree branches that had reportedly been pushed onto riprap areas along the roadside following a recent storm event. It was stated that the situation involving the branches was still being investigated. It was further stated that the dock would be removed. Ms. Pitt referenced statements made by former Vice Chair Sarah Thornbrugh during a recent Select Board meeting concerning her resignation from the Commission. It was stated that Ms. Thornbrugh had raised concerns regarding whether the Commission was operating both legally and morally. Ms. Pitt stated that the Commission should place the matter on a future agenda for discussion and evaluation. Discussion followed regarding timing of such a discussion, including reference to potential consultation between the Town Manager and legal counsel. It was stated that the matter should not be delayed until the Commission's quarterly meeting given the nature of the concerns raised. It was further clarified that Ms. Thornbrugh had presented her comments verbally before the Select Board and that the written correspondence had been directed to the Select Board rather than the Conservation Commission. 2
