Town of Mashpee Sewer Commission <br /> t <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Mashpee, MA 02649 <br /> Meeting Minutes of the Mashpee Sewer Commission <br /> Thursday, April 16, 2026; 2:00 PM <br /> Mashpee Town Hall- Waquoit Meeting Room <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North, Mashpee, MA 02649 <br /> *In-person and televised meeting* <br /> Present In Person: Chair Meredith Harris, Vice Chair, Alfred Towle, Commissioner Joseph <br /> Lyons, Water Quality Coordinator Ashley Fisher <br /> Via Zoom:, Wastewater Superintendent Jared Meader <br /> Absent: Commissioner Cody Erickson and Commissioner Mohan Nair <br /> 2:00 PM Call Meeting to Order <br /> Chair Harris called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. in open session. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. <br /> Chair Harris asked for a moment of silence. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> MOTION: To approve the meeting minutes of March 10, 2026, as presented. <br /> Motion by: Joseph Lyons Seconded by: Alfred Towle <br /> Vote: Motion passed by unanimous vote. <br /> Public Comment <br /> Deb Vaughn spoke during public comment regarding sewer billing and betterment structure for <br /> Asher's Path Apartments. She inquired whether each of the 56 units is assessed the $200 <br /> quarterly flat sewer rate individually, how any betterment charges were applied(whether to <br /> individual units or the property as a whole), and whether metering options for the facility were <br /> ever considered. The Chair advised that responses are not typically provided during public <br /> comment and requested that Ms. Vaughn submit her contact information for follow-up. <br /> Karen Tannis commented on the comparatively higher sewer rates relative to surrounding <br /> communities, including Barnstable, Provincetown, Chatham, and Harwich. She requested greater <br /> transparency, including a detailed breakdown of the $200 charge. The Chair noted that billing <br /> would be discussed later in the meeting and that questions could be addressed at that time or <br /> through follow-up contact information. <br /> Old Business <br /> None discussed. <br />
