of TMs s,s
z.
Aannin Board
c
16 Great Neck Road North
.wlashpee, Aassachusetts 02649
Ms. Waygan commented after hearing about this petition this evening for the first time, she
cannot close the Public Hearing. She feels it was submitted appropriately, and therefore cannot
close the hearing until this paper is in her hand.
Brian Tobin commented that the petition was dropped off anonymously in the mailbox Monday
morning, with no name on it, after the packet deadline. The Planning Department has a copy,
but it was not submitted as proper Public Comment since it had no name or address of the
submitter on it and it was after the packet deadline. The public commenter is here now and is
welcome to submit a copy to the Board for it to consider and become a part of the record.
Ms. Waygan is not happy that this document was not submitted into the record. She called for a
recess.
MOTION:
Mr. Hansen made a motion to go into recess. Seconded by Mr. Millbury. All in
favor.
Mr. Tobin informed the Board, he believes the petitioner lives in North Falmouth, less than 20
minutes away, and she is welcome to go retrieve a copy and come back, as there will be time.
Ms. Waygan stated her role as Chair is to not only make decisions, but also make sure
everyone is heard, and not doing so would cause a liability to any decision. That petition with
1 ,800 signatures that she hasn't seen, and now knows came to this building, for whatever
reason didn't make it to her and into public record, is concerning. Naturally, that would increase
liability for any decision. She told the petitioner to make sure it clearly says who it is from, and
who it is addressed to.
Mr. Kirrane noted the applicant is happy to carry on to the next meeting.
Samantha Cambell- She is a Mashpee resident and thanked the Planning Board for allowing
her to speak. She moved here in 2019, within her first year at Shellback Way, she had a car
accident with three cars, and her car was crushed. She was at the red light at Shellback Way
and Falmouth Road, a car was turning from the left and right, and both cars smashed into her
car. Living on Shellback, she has witnessed and heard so many car accidents. She is here for
the safety of the people. Today at 10:25AM, there was another car accident. She was sitting at
the red light and a girl missed her car by 10 inches, but another car hit that car. This area is
already congested. When people are talking about delivery trucks, nobody has mentioned
garbage trucks. These are huge trucks with a lot of wheels that have to go left. There are
pedestrians, mothers, and kids crossing these streets. For the people who want this at this
location, she loves Trader Joes, it's a great place. This location is awful. If you are coming from
Sandwich or Falmouth, you don't live here.
10
