The storm three months ago <br /> caused a lot of damage, that still remains and is dangerous if you walk, bike, or even drive. <br /> Shellback Way has always had a problem for the 10 years he's lived there, and he is <br /> worried about additional traffic and cars 7 days a week. <br /> John Builder email dated May 8th, he discussed traffic concerns and gridlock around Route <br /> 28, then noted the additional summer traffic. This location cannot handle the scale and <br /> volume demands, this feels like a traffic and safety disaster. <br /> Gerald and Jane Rabinovitz email dated May 12th to the Planning Board, expressing strong <br /> support and approval in this location for the economic and community benefit. This will <br /> create valuable local employment; she is concerned about traffic but feels it should be kept <br /> in context. She takes great issue with bringing up the rotary. Friday she drove to Hyannis <br /> from Mashpee and it took her 40 minutes to go 12 miles. You can't bring up the rotary and <br /> blame Trader Joes. The project isn't here yet and we cannot use the rotary. She is very <br /> much in favor. <br /> Gail Moore email dated May 12th in support. She has lived here almost 40 years, and this <br /> feels like a good addition to the Town. <br /> Barbara Miller email dated May 12th in support of this project, noting a great addition to <br /> Mashpee. Traffic going to Hyannis will drop. <br /> The Town Planner congratulated this Board for months of due diligence going over everything. <br /> The primary issue here is traffic and safety. He crafted an opinion in front of them that is <br /> balanced. It will support multiple perspectives of Board members. He thinks each member has <br /> worked hard, and will objectively vote, and how we evaluate a project is clearly listed. He <br /> advised that the Board support it or not, with their understanding of the facts, and we will see <br /> what the result is. He wants to end on a word of caution. This draft is balanced, if there is <br /> debate or discussion about removing or adding an item, he recommends that be done by a <br /> super majority vote, which matches what is required for an approval. <br /> Jean Christy has a couple outstanding items for the Board to consider. Her April 30th response <br /> letter, which is available in the packet, has a comment regarding the retaining wall on the north <br /> side. The site plan from the property line working into the site shows the wall then a 1Oft. buffer <br /> of vegetation. The bylaw states a minimum of 10 ft. from property lines, and the parking area is <br /> set 10 feet from this area. <br /> 7 <br />
