<br />Select Board <br />Minutes <br />June 1,2026 <br /> <br />Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson commended the progress of the Santuit Pond project and <br />suggested exploring ways to better communicate project benefits and water quality <br />improvements to the public. During public comment, Mary Wagyan expressed support for <br />making the presentation available to residents and encouraged continued consideration of <br />aesthetic and user-focused improvements at public access areas. <br /> Approval of Lease and Power Purchase Agreement for Roof-Mounted Solar on New <br />Police Station <br />The Select Board discussed plans for solar installation at the new Police Station. It was <br />noted that all new municipal buildings are required to be constructed as solar-ready, and <br />much of the necessary infrastructure will be incorporated into the building's construction. <br />The proposed project includes a 20-year lease and power purchase agreement, with the <br />solar system expected to provide a significant portion of the Police Department's on-site <br />electricity needs. <br />Motion made by Selectman Richardson to approve Lease and Power Purchase <br />Agreement for Roof-Mounted Solar on New Police Station. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Weeden. <br />Selectman Weeden discussed concerns regarding how long-term rate structures respond <br />to future changes in utility pricing and whether potential savings would be a?ected by <br />market fluctuations. Catherine Laurent explained that such agreements typically lock in a <br />fixed electricity rate over the term of the contract, providing predictable energy costs. She <br />noted that without solar, the Town would continue purchasing electricity through existing <br />supply arrangements, currently averaging approximately 24 cents per kilowatt hour.
