<br />Select Board <br />Minutes <br />June 1,2026 <br /> <br />Brian Tobin, Town Planner, provided an update on the Local Comprehensive Plan. Tobin <br />reported that the Planning Board and Planning Department have been actively working on <br />the plan since November, conducting a detailed review and revision process. He stated <br />that the Planning Board has reviewed the proposed redline changes and is working toward <br />final approval this fall. Tobin expressed optimism that the plan will be ready for <br />consideration at Town Meeting and noted that the warrant article submission deadline is <br />July 13. <br />Catherine Laurent, DPW Director: <br /> Mashpee Stormwater Program Update <br />The Select Board received an update on the Town's Stormwater Management Program <br />from Gabrielle Belfit of Tighe & Bond and DPW Director Catherine Laurent. <br /> Belfit provided an overview of the federally mandated MS4 stormwater permit program <br />and reported that the Town remains in compliance with all permit requirements. She <br />explained that the program focuses on reducing stormwater pollution, tracking nutrient <br />reductions, implementing public education initiatives, and improving water quality in <br />impaired waterways throughout Mashpee. <br /> Several ongoing stormwater retrofit projects were highlighted, including improvements at <br />the Mashpee-Wakeby State Boat Ramp, Santuit Pond Town Landing, and Attaquin Park. <br />The projects include measures such as stormwater treatment systems, bioretention areas, <br />permeable surfaces, and other infrastructure designed to reduce nutrient loading and <br />improve water quality. <br />Laurent noted that the Santuit Pond project is nearing completion, the Mashpee-Wakeby <br />boat ramp is expected to reopen shortly, and permitting for the Attaquin Park project is <br />anticipated this summer, with construction expected after Labor Day. <br />Board members discussed project costs, maintenance requirements, and future <br />stormwater priorities. Laurent stated that the Town has successfully secured grant funding <br />for many of the projects and will continue identifying additional opportunities for <br />stormwater improvements, particularly in areas with impaired waterways. Questions were <br />raised regarding roadway runoff monitoring and long-term maintenance of stormwater <br />infrastructure. Laurent explained that stormwater management considerations are <br />incorporated into roadway projects and that the Town maintains ongoing maintenance and <br />management plans with support from Tighe & Bond. <br />7 <br /> <br /> <br />
