Affordable Housing Committee 16 Great Neck Road North Mashpee, MA 02649 th Mr. Sparkes commented the Trust meets again on May 18. They can hear what this Committee is doing, and can help structure goals, either for them or jointly with this Committee. They don’t need to meet every month to both be doing the respective work. It may take a year before we acquire properties. If this Committee doesn’t want to join, then it may be a moot point. He is the representative, so they don’t need to have joint meetings. The Trust has agreed to meet quarterly, and everyone on the Trust agrees there has to be teeth in order to make progress. Ms. Lanzillotta noted the Trust will weigh in on the Mission Statement; it is a big piece. If this group feels like more time is needed to think through this, the Committee can continue to focus on the charge as stated in the general bylaw. It’s okay if that decision is still in limbo, the Trust will also have time to weigh in. Ms. Lanzillotta suggested finessing the Mission Statement, but collaborative principles are important to start with. She would start focusing on the agreement of working towards collaborative policies. Ms. Muller would like to see their Mission Statement; only the purpose statement of the Trust is listed. If we are forwarding this to them, she would highlight that one sentence and focus on collaboration. The intent to develop is for us, not the Trust, she supports and subscribes to the collaboration page. PUBLIC COMMENT Lynne Barbee – It has come to her attention from campaigning, that people in this town do not have a clue what the AHC does. She thinks it’s super important for this committee to add public education in some form to the purpose and goals. Part of that has to do with the history of this committee not having energy and people not showing up or participating. If you want more housing, come to the affordable housing committee. Some level of public engagement would be useful, for new energy and ideas. Go to Race Amity Day, have a presence or a table. People are concerned, but don’t see a way out. After years of experience, until everyone individually grasps and knows and has ideas, it’s hard, especially in a Zoom to go through all this. She will do whatever she can to help. She would like to read this document. It is certainly information overload, but she appreciates all that is being done. You need your own separate Mission Statement, and you want affordable housing to be a vital entity in the town. You can do 12
