00
""W"a w,
IMP. IMBO
w Afforda6Ce Housing Committee
16 Great Neck RoadJVorth
Mashyee, M-A 0264.9
AHC Meeting Dates and Times
All future dates have been approved, and the meeting start time remains 6:30PM.
Conflict of Interest Law Training Course(s)
Ms. Muller has to complete the training. Mr. Putterman will see if he meets requirements from
previous yearly training. The Chair will send the link of compliance to Ms. Muller and Mr.
Putterman.
Review of Potential Affordable Housing Projects
We looked at the properties our predecessors were reviewing. There were a couple viable
properties: 51 Sampsons Mill Road, across the street from Sea Oaks, is a big block of woods
comprised of 65 acres.
Ms. Geoffrion saw some obstacles: wellheads, a water protection area, and a utility easement.
It would be a challenging site for many units, but we might be able to get one building.
The Planning Department got the funds through DLTA funding from the Cape Cod Commission
to have that site go through an assessment. It started in January and will last 5-6 months. We
should start thinking about what types of housing we could consider for that area. There is
sewer there now, with lines going up Main St. Sea Oaks has already been hooked up to the
sewer.
There is a need for affordable housing, but that needs to be considered alongside the need to
protect and improve water. There is this self-imposed constraint to accomplish and increase
housing where the town sewer is being built up or there is a wastewater treatment plant on
site.
The second property is 0 Great Neck Road North: behind Town Hall on a 10.2-acre parcel.
Access would be granted off Meetinghouse Rd. The Chair thinks it's a relatively flat piece of
land and might be a nice location for Habitat housing.
Both sites are going through evaluation. They would be deed restricted affordable housing in
perpetuity.
The Chair noted it's in our charge to identify and push the process.
6
