<br />Select Board <br />Minutes <br />June 22,2026 <br /> <br />requested the operation be suspended. The work was shut down on Friday but, without the <br />Town Manager’s knowledge, resumed. The Town Manager noted that DPW has informed the <br />Town that the contractor proceeded despite the Town’s concerns. <br />The Town Manager reported receiving multiple complaints from businesses along Route <br />151, including concerns regarding signage, the length of the closure compared to the <br />original timeline provided, impacts from detours, and lack of communication. The Town <br />Manager stated that the project is expected to resume in the fall and that the matter would <br />be brought back before the Board to allow for further discussion with local businesses and <br />continued communication with the State. <br />Selectman Cotton reiterated concerns regarding the contractor’s staging area and stated <br />that the Board had serious concerns about the current setup and hoped it would not <br />remain throughout the summer. <br />The Town Manager acknowledged the recent tragic swimming incident and recognized the <br />e?orts of the Police Department and Natural Resources Department. <br />The Town Manager provided an update regarding the recent State meeting concerning <br />Mashpee Wakeby. He stated that the meeting went well and provided an opportunity for <br />residents to express concerns. Topics discussed included environmental issues, noise <br />concerns, jet ski activity, regulatory reforms, and parking concerns. The Town Manager <br />stated that the Town would continue to review potential measures to address concerns <br />raised during the meeting. <br />Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson asked about sta?ing levels regarding seasonal lifeguard <br />positions. The Town Manger responded that the Town had been advised that it would not be <br />possible to fully sta? all seasonal positions due to challenges with recruitment and <br />retention. He stated that he would follow up with the Recreation Department to determine <br />options for sta?ing during peak hours. He added that the Town has the ability to hire <br />additional sta? if qualified applicants are available. <br />Motion made by Selectman Weeden to enter Executive Session pursuant to G.L. c. <br />30A, §21(a)(3) (Purpose 3): to discuss strategy with respect to litigation where an open <br />meeting may have a detrimental e?ect on the litigating position of the public body: <br /> Spencer Cleary, et. al. v.
