IMP. IMBO
d"fr,,{yn,r,fw VhP.
w Mashpee lncCusion and'Diversity Committee
16 Great Neck RoadNorth
Mashyee, M-A 0264.9
Mr. Klein thanked Ms. Macedo and her husband, who spent hours making sure the food table
kept organized and ran smoothly. The Chair also thanked her for the soccer nets and corn hole
games.
Ms. Wilson asked about attendance. Mr. Klein stated he moved 75 bags of popcorn. Mr.
Kupferman thinks about 150-200 came, a lot of coming and going. Ms. Macedo brought 120
cups of hummus and gave out 90. Mr. Klein provided bowls for the chowder, starting with 120
and leaving with 10, totaling 110 bowls of chowder distributed.
Ms. Johnson-Graham mentioned a lot of people approached her asking how to pay for food,
not knowing it was free. Maybe a donation jar or tip jar could be there, it would help offset
costs of food or performers. This could be something to think about for next year, or even
leaving a note that says all donations can be made to MIDC.
Nawal Macedo noted a lot of people were hesitant to take the food without paying.
Richard Donovan donates to the Town of Mashpee with a footnote referencing MIDC, as it
does go into the budget and is allocated to the event on behalf of the Bahai's.
Ms. Wilson will look into that further.
Mr. Kupferman commented it didn't occur to him to acknowledge that the food was free when
directing people to the food area. He thinks it's okay for people to make donations, but they
should not solicit with a jar or signs.
Ms. Stevenson realized a lot of people didn't bring chairs. That is something we should push
harder. If people bring chairs, they may stay longer.
Ms. Johnson-Graham stated a slogan for the future could be, "bring a friend, bring a chair'.
Ms. Stevenson learned a lot this year, especially in terms of food and distribution. The food fell
through at the last minute. She just wanted to remind the Committee she pursued that in
January. Then they ran into some issues with the Board of Health, however, the Health Agent
was wonderful and helpful, and the Chair gave a special shout out to him as well.
2
