Select Board
Minutes
July 13,2026

COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE
OLD BUSINESS
Review of Request for Approval of Extended Construction Work Schedule Under
MassDOT Permit #5-2026-0084 – Michael Galla, Comcast, Director of Government &
Community A?airs
The Assistant Town Manager requested that the Board reconsider the proposal, noting that
Comcast had reduced the number of workdays requested.
Michael Galla, Comcast, Director of Government & Community A?airs, explained that the
project, being completed in partnership with MBI, was delayed and moved into the summer
months. The work requires only two additional days to complete. He stated that Comcast
has a tra?ic management plan approved by MassDOT and will maintain two lanes of tra?ic
at all times. The work area will be between Anthony Way and Jobs Fishing Road, and
Comcast will coordinate the schedule with the Town.
The Select Board discussed potential impacts, including road closures and tra?ic concerns.
Galla confirmed there would be no road shutdowns or lane closures, only temporary cones
for safety while work is completed. The project involves aerial work from pole to pole. He
stated that Comcast intends to complete the work quickly and minimize disruption.
The Board discussed scheduling the work for Tuesday and Wednesday, with Galla stating
that the preferred work hours would be 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, though Comcast is open to a
schedule that works best for the Town. The Town Manager noted that this timeframe
generally avoids peak commuter tra?ic and stated that the concerns previously raised had
been adequately addressed. The Select Board was comfortable moving forward with the
Tuesday-Wednesday schedule.
Motion made by Selectman Richardson to approve the request to extend the
construction work schedule on Route 28 on Tuesday/Wednesday between the hours of
9AM-3PM with the exact dates to be decided by the Town Manager.
Motion seconded by Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson.
Vote: 5-0 Unanimous
7
