<br />Select Board <br />Minutes <br />July 13,2026 <br /> <br />new access drive, boat ramp, turnaround area, docking facilities, and other site <br />improvements. <br />Funded in part through Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) grants, the project began <br />in 2025, paused for the winter, and resumed in March 2026. Remaining work includes <br />landscaping, site stabilization, punch list items and project closeout. <br />Select Board members discussed the project and future water quality improvements. In <br />response to questions, sta? said a handrail for the steps could be considered, and noted <br />that Phase 2 e?orts, including a proposed alum treatment in partnership with the Mashpee <br />Wampanoag Tribe, are intended to address internal phosphorus loading in Santuit Pond. <br />Turner explained that the newly installed green infrastructure will be monitored to evaluate <br />its e?ectiveness. Sta? also highlighted that the retaining wall includes handprints, animal <br />designs, and Wampanoag language in collaboration with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. <br />Fisher invited the public to attend the "State of Our Ponds" presentation at the Mashpee <br />Public Library on July 21, featuring Town sta? and project partners. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Earnest Barrows addressed the Board regarding ongoing concerns with the pickleball <br />courts. He stated that the issue has been ongoing for approximately eight years and <br />expressed hope that a resolution would be reached. Barrows clarified that his concern is <br />not with pickleball itself, but with the noise caused by the courts’ location. <br />He noted that other communities, including those in Maine and Rhode Island, have faced <br />similar issues and have taken steps to address them. Barrows stated that eliminating play <br />on Sundays alone would not resolve the issue and suggested additional options, including <br />reducing hours, using quieter balls, enclosing the courts, or relocating the facility. <br />Susan Dangle, 767 Cotuit Road, provided an update on the jet ski situation. She stated that <br />there has been significant improvement over the past three weeks since the operational <br />meeting. She noted that during the first week, two Harbormaster boats were present.
