Conservation Agent <br /> Paul Colombo, Interim Vice Chair Marjorie Clapprood,Associate Member Andrew McManus, Conservation Agent <br /> Richard Sahl,Member Sandi Godfrey, Secretary (absent) <br /> Seana Pitt, Member Neal Larsson,Associate Member <br /> Open Public Meeting—Call to Order <br /> Chair Cook called the meeting to order at approximately 6:00 p.m. <br /> Pledge of Allegiance <br /> Chair Cook led the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> Public Comment(For any issues not related to agenda items- *3 minutes per comment) <br /> Susan Dangle, Chair of the Mashpee Freshwater Ponds Committee,provided an update on the Committee's first <br /> year of work. She reported that the Committee has been inventorying the Town's freshwater ponds, conducting site <br /> visits, and collecting information on pond conditions. Ms. Dangle highlighted the Committee's public education <br /> efforts, including distribution of informational flyers on protecting Mashpee's freshwater ponds through beach <br /> sticker mailings, the sticker office, and upcoming sewer bill mailings. She also announced a public educational <br /> presentation scheduled for July 21, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Mashpee Public Library. The program will include <br /> updates on the Town's major freshwater ponds and presentations from representatives from the Mashpee <br /> Wampanoag Tribe, APCC, and Town staff. Ms. Dangle added that the Committee is working to encourage the <br /> formation of community pond groups for Johns Pond and Santuit Pond and invited residents and Commissioners to <br /> attend the July 215t presentation and help spread the word. <br /> Brad Sweet, former Conservation Commission Chair and Amy Brown Road resident, spoke during public <br /> comment regarding two matters. Mr. Sweet expressed interest in receiving an update on the status of the Red <br /> Brook restoration project, noting that the project has been under discussion for many years and that its eventual <br /> construction will affect access to his property. He also voiced concerns about forest management and wildfire risk <br /> on nearby conservation and wildlife refuge lands. Mr. Sweet described what he believes to be inadequate <br /> vegetation management, the presence of dead and fallen trees, and the resulting impacts on nearby residents, <br /> including blocked access and private tree removal costs. He encouraged the Commission to consider the issue and, <br /> if appropriate,raise it with the agencies responsible for managing the affected conservation properties. <br /> In response, it was noted that an update on the Red Brook culvert project would be provided later in the meeting. <br /> Staff also indicated they would contact the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service regarding the concerns about forest <br /> management and wildfire mitigation and consider placing the topic on a future agenda after gathering additional <br /> information. <br /> 1 <br />
