or)9W
x ► ATashpee offistorical
16 Great Neck Road North
Ms h , AM 02
ULE Telephone (508) 539-1400,
t. 8550
MASHPEE HISTORICAL COMMISSION
i
Minutes of Meeting — September 24, 2012
The Town of l l shpee Historical Commission meeting was called to order in the
Archives temporary office-at Torn Hall at 4m.05pm-on Monday, September 24, 2012, by
Nancy Soderberg, Chairperson.
Commissioners Present: Frank Lord, Rosemary Burns Love, and Nancy Soderberg.
A motion was made, and seconded, that we accept the Minutes of the July 12, 20120
meeting as presented.
Ie rt :
Budget for the year 2013 has only used $89.38 of the $1000 that was allowed.
Frank Lord is still at the One Room School House during the fall months to conduct
tours on Thursdays from o:ooam to 2:00pt , and he is planning to end them at the end
of-October. Tours this past summer were disappointing; fever-appointments were-made.
Franc finds that having visitors who just stop by for ar tour is more difficult than visitors
that make an appointment. 1t is somewhat disrupting to stmt a tour over and over as
people join the tour that has already, started. He will consider another approach for next
season. The schoolhouse brochure has to be amended to shover our new phone l
nurnber. Frank plans to write up an article about the schoolhouse for the Bulletin.
He plans to display the schoolhouse model in the local schools, starting first in the High
-school, then in the K. C. Coombs School, and perhaps in the Mashpee Library in the
-summer-months for net year. He will also try to locate the kiosk that eras on the lawn
before the neve parking lot was done which has disappeared.
Rosemary Burns Love reported on the success of the Day of Celebration for New
Seabury which was held on August 10, 2012. 1t was a joyous celebration, -arid everyone
hard a wonderfuI time. Her write-up was printed in the Peninsula la Reporter and she Trill
give us a copy.
We had fewer visitors this summer to temporary office of the Archives. William Lewis o
Mashpee has an interest in volunteering,'if he can find some time to give us. Alicia
