MA 02649 <br /> FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES <br /> Town Hall <br /> March 7, 1989 <br /> Present : Edward Dolan , John Ferriday , Tony Gallo , Carl Heller <br /> and Carl Heller <br /> The Finance Committee convened at 7 p . m . Jane LaBute the <br /> Town Clerk joined the meeting to discuss both the Town Clerk <br /> Budget and the Elections and Registrations Budget . Jane noted <br /> that the Town Clerk ' s budget is based on a 9 , 000 person population , <br /> if the population is higher there are more voters and more census <br /> work . Jane noted the need for ballot booths , stating the old ones <br /> are unsafe . The mileage and travel request is $600 compared to $0 <br /> in FY89 . Jane explained that she hopes to attend a Clerk ' s <br /> Convention . Jane explained that the $5 , 200 for expenses will be <br /> needed irregardless of whether they get the ballot machines or not . <br /> She also informed the committee that it will be a year before the <br /> precints are set . There will most likely be 4 precints with two <br /> separate voting places . She also informed committee members that <br /> the street numbering project is way behind schedule . People are <br /> not adhering to the new house numbers , and they must be requested <br /> to do so by the Selectmen . There are no legitimate house numbers <br /> on voter registration . She hopes the project will be completed <br /> by the end of July . She requested the budget for Town Clerk <br /> be accepted as submitted . Finance Committee noted there would be <br /> no decisions made at this time . Written communication at a later <br /> date would inform her of the committee ' s recommendation . <br /> Jane next addressed the Elections and Registrations Budget . <br /> She noted that the $2 , 890 figure was based on four elections , <br /> 1 annual and 3 specials . She explained that she felt this amount <br /> would suffice . She expressed her wish to have the overrides all <br /> lumped together . Finance Committee agreed to notify her of their <br /> recommendations . <br /> The Shellfish Warden joined the meeting to address his FY90 <br /> budget requests . He noted that the $24 , 163 , 10 in the Shellfish <br /> Management Salary did not include the 53rd week or the cost of <br /> living increase . The Finance Committee addressed the request <br /> for $4 , 200 for a 21 foot plywood skiff with a 48 hp outboard . <br /> The Warden noted he is not sure what he will be able to get for <br /> a trade in on the old outbord . He noted that there is a possibility <br /> that he may be able to buy the skiff from this year ' s expense <br /> account but that he would still require the outboard motor . He <br />
