MASHPEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> MARCH 23, 1993 <br /> MEETING COMMENCED AT 7:15 PM <br /> Members Present: Deirdre Greelish, Chairperson; Dan Goggin; Denise <br /> Sullivan; Tony Gallo; John Ferriday; Ed Baker and Roger Dunivan. <br /> The taping of this meeting is for the transcription of the minutes <br /> only. The tapes will be reused. <br /> Also present at the meeting were Robert Whritenour; .lames Vaccaro; <br /> Nancy Caffyn; Judy Mills; Carol Jacobson; Robert Sherman, <br /> Conservation Agent; and Greg Taylor, Director Department of Public <br /> Works. <br /> MINUTES <br /> Dan Goggin MOTIONED to accept the Minutes of March 16, 1993 as <br /> written. Roger Dun,ivan seconded the Motion. Members voted in <br /> acceptance of the Minutes 6-0, Deirdre Greelish abstaining. <br /> The Minutes of March 18, 1993 will need to be voted on again, due <br /> to a difference of opinion. <br /> CONSERVATION <br /> Bob Sherman, Conservation Agent, was present at the meeting to <br /> discuss the department's articles. The department submitted two <br /> articles regarding their clerk. This clerk has been working for <br /> the department since the hurricane. She was hired as a temporary <br /> clerk because of the extra workload due to the storm. The <br /> department wishes to make her position a permanent 18 hour per week <br /> position. Mr. Sherman claimed that Personnel does not want to keep <br /> her on as a temporary employee and that he has monies in the <br /> Reserve Receipt Fund, so that it would not cost the town anything. <br /> Mr. Baker stated that this was not so, because even though her <br /> wages would be paid. for out of this account, the account could also <br /> be paying for other employees of the department. Mr. Sherman <br /> stated that the department needed her desperately when she was <br /> hired and they need her even more now. Ms. Sullivan suggested <br /> using the floating clerk to help the department with their <br /> workload. Mr. Whritenour explained that she could only be placed <br /> there a couple of hours per week, due to the demand for her <br /> elsewhere. Mr. Ferriday stated that in his personal opinion there <br /> is a great need for her there. Ms. Greelish inquired about their <br /> board secretary and how she was being paid. Mr. Sherman stated <br /> that there is no funding For their board secretary but that she is <br /> being compensated by taking regular compensation time. Ms. <br /> Greelish stated that the committee would need to look at the <br /> situation when all the other departments who wish to have new <br /> positions can be reviewed.
