14ASHPEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> MARCH 16, 1994 <br /> MEETING COMMENCED AT 7:OOPM <br /> Members Present: Dan Goggin, Chairman; Deirdre Greelish; Denise <br /> /,llivan; John Ferriday; Marcia King; Roger Dunivan and Tony Gallo. <br /> Please note for the record that the taping of this meeting was for <br /> the transcription of the Minutes only. The tape will be reused <br /> once the Minutes are approved. <br /> MINUTES <br /> Marcia King MOTIONED to approve the Minutes of March 8, 1994 as <br /> written. John Ferriday seconded the Motion and members approved <br /> the Motion 6-0. Deirdre Greelish abstaining. Denise Sullivan <br /> MOTIONED to accept the Minutes of March 9, 1994 as written. John <br /> Ferriday seconded the Motion and members voted 4-0 in acceptance. <br /> Deirdre Greelish, Tony Gallo and Roger Dunivan abstaining. <br /> REQUESTS FOR TRANSFER <br /> Shellfish -- Dick York, Shellfish Constable, was present at the <br /> meeting to request $600 to be placed in the Shellfish Truck Account <br /> from the Reserve Fund. The requested amount will be used for the <br /> purchase of the new Shellfish Department Truck. Total price of the <br /> new truck is $8,100. There was a $1,000 discount certificate that <br /> was due the Town by GM Motors Corporation. Due to a last minute <br /> appeal of a settlement of a class action suit regarding the side <br /> mounted fuel tanks on the GMC Trucks, the certificates will either <br /> be held up for months or never be issued. Mr. York negotiated with <br /> the GM dealer and had the purchase amount reduced by $400, leaving <br /> $600 as the balance, which he was now requesting. <br /> John Ferriday MOTIONED to transfer $600 from the Reserve Fund to <br /> the Shellfish Truck Account, in order that the truck be purchased. <br /> Denise Sullivan seconded the Motion and members voted in approval <br /> of the Motion 7-0. <br /> Mr. York then mentioned that if he was preparing his budget again, <br /> he would put in for an excess $20,000 for the hiring of an <br /> assistant. Mr. York felt that patrolling the waters and shellfish <br /> beds was as essential in the winter, as well as in the summer. He <br /> also mentioned that he was maintaining the two boats with their <br /> repairs and upkeep himself. Ms. Greelish asked why Mr. York wasn't <br /> considering using a private company to paint or upkeep the boats? <br /> Ms. Greelish felt that a private company would work at a cheaper <br /> rate than the Shellfish Constable working extra hours at his rate <br /> of pay and with his credentials. Ms. Greelish felt that there must <br /> be some other way to get this work done. Mr. Ferriday asked about <br /> the Shellfish Commission. Mr. York responded that the Commission <br />
