TOWN OF MASHPEE
DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING
November 10, 1999
The Design Review Committee met at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10,
1999 in Meeting Room #3 at the Lower Level of Mashpee Town Hall.
Committee Members Present: William Hauck, Ex Offcio; Thomas F. O'Hara;
Mary LeBlanc and Walter Yarosh.
Minutes of October 13, 1999
VOTED: On a motion by Mr. O'Hara and seconded by Ms. LeBlanc, it was
unanimously voted to accept the Minutes of October 13, 1999 as presented.
1. Asher Heights —Sign
The design of the sign was favorably received. It will be placed on the comer, 2 % ft
off the ground and sitting above rocks. Committee members reserved the right to
review it after it is installed.
A general discussion followed on the criteria for sign review. It was suggested that
photos be taken and used as examples of what designs the committee prefers. The
pictures could be made available to future applicants as guidelines.
In addition, requirements and guidelines are needed by committee members. A
mission statement might be appropriate, it was suggested. Mr. Yarosh agreed to
obtain a copy of local bylaws.
2. Mash ee Commerce Center Route 28 Au at Buildin — Sign
The proposed sign met with approval, however, the landscaping and placement did
not. The location of the sign needs to be more clearly defined. It should be placed
at least 10-12 ft. back from the road and still be visible from the highway. The ladder
board should be uniform in size and colors. The colors will be black/blue on a white
background. Posts size will be 6 x 6. "Entrance" and "Exit" signs were suggested at
separate driveways.
i
Lighting will not be installed at the present time, however, if lighting is installed in the
future, it will be a canopy, gooseneck style. The applicant will return to this
committee prior to installing lighting.
An address is required on the sign. It was agreed the numbers "109" will be placed
in a circle on top of the sign.
