GROWTH REVIV COI2CTTEE
MIHIIT'E9
duly Z, 1282
w
The Growth Review (bmmittee met at the Mashpee Town Hall and the following members
were present: Chair= Richard Terry, 'dice Chairwmp Sel. B. Jean Thomas,
Set, Chet Garland, Earle Marsters, Mike Makunas, Harold Collins, Michele Stone,
Richardson Jonas and Charles Rowley. Joe Murphy was also in attendance.
The meeting was called to order at 7s20 p..m.
There was discussion on the house numbering system which was brought up by Joe
Murphy. He felt a tylar should be made from the maps now available to be used
as an original as the present plan could get doggy after awhile.
Mr. Garland felt we will need more copies and suggested if we could perhaps use
a microfilm-type reproduction which may prove cheaper than the mylar.
On the tither hand Mr. Marsters felt you couldn't make the changes that you could
on a mylar.
Mr. Murphy stated that on an annual basis you ctm make changes on the original as
copies used will get doggy. You need an origin from which to make copies in the
future.
Mr. Marsters informed the Board that once the systen is in use, when a person brings
a subdivision map into the Planning Board, they Will have to have the numbers on it.
So they will go to the master reap and whoever is the caretaker of that subdivision
will assign the number and the Board will show {them on the master map. Mr. Marsters
feels the main thing now is to get it started, assign someone the responsibility
and let them figure out how to handle it.
Mr. Murphy stated he f eels. initially the Fire and Police Departments will need copies
because there's going to be initial confusion* I
Mr. Marsters doesn't know if that's necessary as the first requirement is to have
everyone pint the number on their house and the Departments will be able to see them.
Mr. Makune.s felt the post office still get people to do this if they want to get their
mail.
But Mr. Murphy said the people that have a post office box will be lazy in doing it.
Mr. Marsters inquired if they knew who :the Selectmen-were going to give the responsi-
bility to in implementing the system as it*s a shame not to do it after spending all
that money.
Air. Murphy stated the product,. that-`was prepared has value ,in. that it seas the
standard and sets the original numbers and ifawe have to have a mylar made, that at
least is a starting point.
They agreed to ask Mr. Rowley if he could give them some guidelines as they thought
he's already helped another town do it. (Mr. Rowley hadn't arrived yet.)
