MINUTES January 29, 1998 6 BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> Mr. McQuaid stated, `Before we change any of our budget items it's up to the <br /> Human Services Committee to come before the Board and explain why they want to <br /> change the budget item." "I did inform the Executive Secretary that there was a potential <br /> for dropping the engineering services in the Professional and Technical account." <br /> Mr. Doherty stated, "I would recommend we forward a letter to the chairman of <br /> the Human Services Committee informing her it has come to the Board's attention that <br /> she has made unauthorized contact with the V.N.A. regarding their 1999 budget request. <br /> The Board wishes to remind her that the Human Services Committee serves as an advisory <br /> role to the Board of Health and that any concerns regarding expenditures, contract items <br /> and/or performance should be directed to the Board of Health for discussion. The Human <br /> Services Committee is not authorized to make any budgetary changes or to negotiate with <br /> vendors directly. In the future please direct your concerns to the Board so that they may <br /> be addressed in a proper and appropriate manner. While we encourage open <br /> communications with budgetary and/or contractual matters it must go through this office. <br /> The Board is eager to meet with her to discuss the Committee's findings and hear <br /> recommendations." <br /> Mr. Ball agreed with Mr. Doherty's recommendation and directed the agent to <br /> forward the letter as drafted by Mr. Doherty. <br /> Letter from Town Counsel re: LF4 site <br /> Mr. McQuaid requested Board members review the letter for comment at next <br /> week's meeting. <br /> Being no finther business Mr. Doherty motioned to adjourn this meeting at 8:19 p.m., Mr. <br /> Ball seconded. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Veronica Mayer, Adm.
