MINUTES May 10, 2001 6 BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> a. Well Driller Policy <br /> Ms. Warden stated that in the past the Board has required all well permits to be <br /> issued only to licenses well drillers. Recently some of the well drillers have been <br /> sending in representatives from their company to pull the permits. She asked the <br /> Board if they want to allow representatives to pull the permits or should the past <br /> policy be continued to only allow licensed drillers to obtain permits. Board <br /> members agreed to continue with the current policy and not allow anyone except a <br /> licensed well driller to obtain well permits in the town of Mashpee. <br /> b. Health Agent Job Description <br /> Board members reviewed the Health Agent job description. <br /> c. Smoking Regulation <br /> Discussion took place regarding the existing smoking regulation. Board members <br /> agreed to review and possibly update this regulation in the fall after the busy <br /> summer season is over. <br /> d. Drainage Swales <br /> Discussion took place regarding the Planning Board's policy on drainage swales. <br /> Board members directed Ms. Warden to send a memo to the Planning Board <br /> stating that the Board of Health will not accept any constructed structure that is <br /> designed to hold standing water for fear of mosquito breading. The Board is <br /> concerned that any structure designed to hold standing water will encourage <br /> mosquito breading. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> a. Evidence of illegal dumping off Noisy Hole Road <br /> Ms. Warden stated that she drove many of the back roads of Mashpee and found <br /> incredible amounts of trash with no evidence of ownership. She stated that the <br /> contractors know what they are doing by dumping only items with no traces of <br /> ownership. <br /> b. Housing Inspection - 72 Old Colony Road <br /> Board acknowledged. <br /> c. Request for Hazardous Waste Day Volunteers <br /> Ms. Warden and Mr. Ball volunteered to work at the Household Hazardous Waste <br /> collection day on October 13, 2001. <br /> d. Emergency Repair: 12 Meadow Haven Drive <br /> Ms. Stiefel indicated that the septic system had been pumped the day before and <br /> that the soil around the pit was saturated. There was evidence of overflow in the <br /> put. A new distribution box is necessary along with 3 500-gallon chambers and 4' <br /> of stone. Also, the integrity of the tank should be checked. <br /> Board members forwarded their signatures to the Emergency Failure Certification <br /> form. <br />
