TOWN OF MASHPEE
BOARD OF HEALTH
May 31, 2001
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Members present: John T. Doherty, L. Glenn Santos, Steven R. Sign warrants
Warrants signed.
2. Board Re-organization
Mr. Ball motioned to appoint John Doherty as Chairman of the Board of Health
and Glenn Santos Co-Chairman of the Board of Health for the upcoming year.
Mr. Doherty seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Mr. Doherty motioned to appoint Steven Ball as Clerk of the Board of Health for
the upcoming year. Mr. Santos seconded the motion. Motion passed.
APPOINTMENT: Richard Delany/Mobil on the Run re: Smoking Violation
Mr. Richard Delaney, Store Manager and Mr. Edward Bahama, Territory Manager of
Mobil on the Run were in attendance for this scheduled appointment.
Ms. Warden stated that Mr. Delaney and Mr. Bahama were in attendance to discuss
the tobacco compliance check that was done on April 25th at Mashpee Mobil on the
Run by the Cape Cod Regional Tobacco Control Program. Since it was the fourth
violation for this store, the Board had voted to suspend the Mobil station's tobacco
sales permit for a period of 60 days.
Mr. Bahama apologized for Mobil's negligence. He stated that they only want to make
legal sales. Mr. Bahama stated the stores policies regarding tobacco sales and also
stated that the employee who made the sale was immediately terminated. The loss of
license has affected all of the employees at the Mobil station since employee hours are
determined by the weekly sales in the store. Since the license was suspended the
sales have dropped drastically and, therefore, employees'hours have been cut.
Mr. Bahama went on to say that all of their employees are trained extensively on the
proper identification procedures for tobacco sales, however this one employee didn't
take it seriously and it cost her her job.
S :6 E' hZ iSlf 10
3 4,i'`1 Il r101
