i
TOWN OF MASHPEE
PERSONNEL BOARD
Minutes of Meeting, August 4, 1975, 7:30 p.m.
PRESENT: R. Graham, W. Clendenin, R. Maxim, C . Brown
It was decided to request a meeting with R. Staff, Town
Counsel, and a representative of the Board of Selectmen re-
garding George Costa' s employment status.
A letter will be sent to Amelia Bingham, Museum Director
stating the Board is resolute in its letter of July 15 , 1975 •
and further explaining the action the Board took: i.e. that
Mrs . Bingham stated in her letter of April 1$, 1975 that it
was her understanding to work thirty five (35 ) hours per week
for annual salary of $5,000, that by vote of the Town Meeting,
this figure has been increased by 5% to $5250; and that since
the appropriation was for an annual salary of $5250 and notas
an hourly wage, it 5s the opinion of the Personnel Board that
the salary be pro-rated over the fiscal year at an amount of
$100.96 per week. Also, the Personnel Board concurs with her
• recommendation that the employees under her supervision be
employed on an hourly or seasonal basis as the demand requires,
and have sent a recommendation to the Board of Selectmen for
approval of the salary work schedules, which Mrs. Bingham had
submitted, but subject tothis condition: that these positions
have been classified on a part-time seasonal basis and are
therefore excluded from participating in the Town benefit program.
(Copy of above letter to go to Board of Selectmen)
A letter will be sent to Selectmen classifying the positions
of part-time Secretary/Clerk for the Museum to start at Grade 6;
and Maintenance/Groundsman to start at Grade 7.
There was a discussion of a letter from Attorney Staff stating
that the Public Prosecutor is not entitled to the 5% cost of
living raise. A copy of this letter will be sent to Town Treasurer.
Regarding the Fire Contract negotiations, Attorney Kowal is
waiting to hear from Attorney Rossman for an appointment . A
request will be sent to Attorney Kowal for a copy of his cover-
ing letter to Attorney Rossman concerning the Contract and an
appointment to negotiate.
Ads will be placed in the Enterprise and Standard-Times
for a licensed part-time wire inspector, per request from the
• Selectmen. The applicants will be notified for interview after
September 8, 1975. Also . the papers will be notified that the
Personnel Board will next meet on September 8, 1975 by appoint
ment only.
Having no further business, the meeting was adjourned at
9: 45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
