Personnel Board Minutes <br /> Meeting of August 28 , 1989 Page 2 <br /> Secretarial Seminar , cont . <br /> of the seminar of the sponsoring company are met by the Personnel Board . <br /> The Personnel Assistant was asked to find out who - thespeakers will be and <br /> to follow up on reference checks.. The Board will meet back on this topic <br /> for further discussion . - <br /> Personnel Articles for Special Town Meeting <br /> The Personnel Assistant advised ,the Board that articles were submitted to <br /> the Board of Selectmen ' s office for a. part-time employee', to work in the <br /> Personnel Office and for a computer printer . Board members were advised <br /> that this was in follow-up to a meeting with the Finance Committee , who <br /> .would like to meet with the Board at their meeting on September 26 at <br /> 7 : 30 p .m . <br /> Old Business <br /> Removal of Information From Personnel File <br /> - <br /> ThePersonnel Assistant advised the Board that she contacted the Public <br /> Records Division in Boston with regard to removal of information from <br /> a personnel file . They advise that files can be separated but cannot be <br /> destroyed unless a request in writing is made to the State Records Divi- <br /> sion and permission is granted . <br /> Since this inquiry was made in follow up to a request from Chief Frye <br /> requesting that complaints against any officer that have resulted in no <br /> disciplinary action not be included in the personnel records of the of- <br /> ficer , Manuel Glickman asked the assistant to advise the Police Chief <br /> that the records may be separated and not destroyed . <br /> Meeting With . Ernie Virgilio re : Positions for D. P .W . <br /> Ernie Virgilio met with the Personnel Board to obtain their support for <br /> new positions in the. D .P .W. He advised the Board members that he sub- <br /> mitted an article for two truck driver positions and one full-time secre- <br /> tary . He said that he has asked for one person per year for the past <br /> five years and has not received anyone . <br /> Ernie explained to the Board that he has had temporary help for almost <br /> two years whoare not receiving any benefits . He said that shortly be- <br /> fore he was hired there was a position lost within his department and <br /> now they have an employee who is no longer with .them because of a criminal <br /> offense . <br /> Ernie said that he plans to take this to town meeting floor . Ben Lofchie <br /> advised .him to get_ Finance approval . He also let Ernie know that almost <br /> every department is asking for new positions at the Special Town Meeting . <br /> Ernie said that there has been no additional staff in the D .P .W . since <br /> 1980 and that he has obeyed the rules in they past and .'was told to wait <br /> until. November . ' He said that he is in the process of compiling a ten- <br /> year road report and will be bringing statistics to the people . <br /> Manny Glickman suggested that he use :the strategy that the town has given <br /> help to other departments and now it is the time for D.P . W . This was <br /> suggested after a concern of Ernie that other departments are getting the <br /> extra help and his departments hasn ' t received any . <br />
