LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING <br />AUGUST 15, 1994 <br />TOWN HALL <br />Present: Absent: Also Present: <br />Elisa Meunier George Costa Gus Frederick <br />Linda Young MaryAnne Gibbs <br />Ron Roberts <br />Maureen Paxton <br />I. Opening of Meeting.- Elisa Meunier made a motion to open the meeting <br />at 6:47 PM in the Town Hall. Linda Young seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />II. Secretary's Report - Linda Young made a motion to change July <br />minutes to show Maureen Paxton as "excused". Elisa seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />III. Communications - <br />1. Ron Roberts and Maureen Paxton have been reappointed by the <br />School Committee until June, 1996. Linda Young and Elisa <br />Meunier are appointed through June, 1995. They will need to be <br />recommended for reappointment at next May meeting. <br />2. A discussion took place regarding two letters received from the <br />Mashpee Youth Soccer League regarding: <br />A. additional Soccer fields, and; <br />B. the installation of a telephone line at the Concession <br />Stand. <br />Gus stated that an additional practice field was completed <br />just recently at Recreation Park - giving us two fields at this time. <br />Discussion also centered around irrigation, seeding, and <br />fertilization of the fields. Contact will be made with DPW to work <br />with them for this Fall, and next spring. <br />Additionally, contact will be made with Nynex regarding <br />installation costs for a local only phone line. <br />4. A letter was received regarding information on the state WIC <br />program (Women, Infants, and Children). Contact will be made to <br />investigate feasibility of using the Recreation building part-time. <br />5. Gus discussed a letter he received from the Town Clerk's Office <br />regarding the timetable for elections this fall, and when the <br />Middle School gymnasium will not be available for our programs. <br />6. A discussion took place regarding the approval by the Selectmen of <br />a sign for John's Pond "Super Swim Meet". We should possibly <br />add "only open water masters course on Cape Cod. <br />
