2. Programming - Discussion took place on various programs that may be offered. <br />Gus also passed out a sheet on Theater on the Green. This program would be in <br />need of sponsorship through Grants. Maureen Paxton mentioned the need for a <br />few Adult Education Classes during the summer. Maureen mentioned a family <br />dance. <br />3. High School Building Usage - John Williams indicated gym use in the new high <br />school would be minimal. If using the fitness room, it would be important to <br />always have a supervisor. Other possible classes could be woodworking, small <br />engine repair, computer classes. John Williams stresses having qualified people <br />instructing. Security was another issue of concern. John Williams does not know <br />how privatization regarding custodians will work. John Williams said that <br />scheduling would be very important and that it would be better to go through <br />principal first then the Superintendent. Gus would like to see the school have <br />priority, then Leisure Services. John Williams said that auditorium usage most <br />likely would be scheduled the beginning of year. John Williams suggested a <br />meeting be set up regarding accountability and usage of facility, i.e., cleaning, <br />security. Gus will follow up with letter. <br />Uodates <br />1. Comnuterized Recreation Registrations - Pat Riley and Shiela Arnold discussed <br />some options for computerized programs. Pat will bring in a program to try. <br />2. Recreation Plan - Maureen Paxton brought up discussion on Recreation Plan. <br />Kim Whitney suggested a brochure that talks about Leisure Services would be a <br />great idea. <br />3. Cane Cod Neighborhood Sunnort - Gus discussed last meeting of Steering <br />Committee and Coalition. Training took place on facilitators. Job description will <br />be presented. <br />4. Together We Can Update - Meeting last week showed good support. Gus passed <br />out letter that was sent out to all interested people. Thursday, April 11th, there <br />will be a meeting on inhalants at the K. C. Coombs. <br />Gus mentioned that approximately 60 teens attended youth center. Meeting would <br />be set up with Dennis Hansford, Niki Mills, and Steve Paxton. <br />B. NEW BUSINESS - <br />1. Summer Academic Program - Gus passed out a sheet that was to be distributed to <br />teachers regarding a proposed Summer Academic Program. <br />2. Education Foundation Request - Dr. DeMoura would like suggestions for items. <br />Maureen mentioned basketball hoop, picnic tables. <br />V. OTHER BUSINESS - Maureen Paxton mentioned nonprofit status. <br />VI. ADIOURNMENT - Linda Young made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Pat Riley <br />seconded.
