LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING <br />DECEMBER 3, 1996 <br />MASHPEE MIDDLE SCHOOL <br />Present: Absent: Also Present: <br />Sheila Arnold Ken Marsters Gus Frederick <br />Kim Whitnev Joleen Shultzabarger Bob Tippo <br />Terrie Cook- Linda Young <br />Pat Riley <br />I. OPENING OF MEETING -Sheila Arnold opened the meeting at 6:39 PM. <br />II. MINUTES - Kim Whitney made a motion to postpone approval of Minutes of the <br />Meeting of November 5 until the next meeting. Pat Riley seconded. Motion carried. <br />III. COMMUNICATIONS - Gus mentioned we have an application from Pat Antonellis <br />regarding becoming a member of the Leisure Services Advising Council. Her application <br />was forwarded to the School Department so they can make the appointment. Terne Cook <br />said that it was on the agenda This appointment would bring us to nine members. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS <br />1. MashM School Usage - Calendar - Gus passed out a copy of our calendar. <br />Nothing has been scheduled in the high school at this time. Later in the winter or in the <br />spring we have scheduled some things in the high school. High School basketball will <br />have to use the Middle School gym between 2:30 and 6:30 PM. We had to change some <br />classes around to allow for this change. Terrie Cook expressed concerns about a few <br />issues - supervision at the Teen Center and Friday Sports do not have enough supervision. <br />Bob Tippo mentioned some damage that had occurred in the school. Leisure Services <br />offered to fix the damage. Terrie Cook suggested we lock off sections of the school. Gus <br />mentioned that we had two individuals that are doing supervising, and that we will make <br />sure that we have additional people supervising. <br />2. Capital Budget -Gus mentioned that he would mail a copy of our capital <br />improvement budget to members. <br />3. Review Recreation Plan - Kim Whitney reported that Sheila Arnold attended <br />their last meeting. They are working on key component areas and will come up with goals <br />and objectives. Plan is being Streamlined. Will be meeting again on Wednesday to <br />finalize. <br />4." Friends of - Gus mentioned that he is waiting to hear back from Linda Murtha <br />regardintg the application. <br />5. E.O.C.D. Application - Rec Building -We did not receive Grant for Rec <br />Building. We would like to find out why the Grant was not approved. We did receive <br />$2,000 Grant from Willowbend for equipment for Kids Klub. We will reapply in the <br />spring for camp items. Also the therapeutic horse program had been given directly to this <br />program. <br />6. Special Events - House Decorating Contest - Gus explained that the flyer for the <br />House Decorating contest got distributed later than he planned. <br />
