V. NEW BUSINESS <br />1. Operating Budget - 1998 - Guidelines for the coming year will not affect salaries <br />because of contracts with Unions. However, expense of $22,000 for the Department will <br />be level funded. Gus would like to move around some of the money and use it in the <br />Recreation Equipment category. Putting in new backstop at Heritage Park. Put in Team <br />benches and fences. Will put in money to add additional fencing around the playground <br />area Ray Martini puts Town Hall Budget together for expenses. We are looking at putting <br />on a new roof and tiling the bathroom and also doing something to the flooring. The rug is <br />wearing out again. Looking at tiling and area rugs. Windows also need to be replaced. <br />Pat Riley would like to see the field changed because of the direct sun when the <br />kids are playing. Gus said that he spoke with Corinne Wickel regarding lights at the field. <br />They have a Light Committee. <br />2. Winter Program - Gus passed out new program brochure. Kids Klub programs <br />are in a separate brochure. There are approximately 153 participants in the Grade 1-6 <br />Youth Basketball Program. We will send out another flyer after high school teams are <br />selected. <br />Gus mentioned that a new instructor has been hired for our After -School Program. <br />He is a teaching assistant that works at Stone Middle School in Bourne. He also has a <br />special needs background. Also another young lady will work 3 days per work in the After <br />School Program. She is a recent graduate and has experience working with juvenile <br />delinquents. She will work with the younger group. Bob Tippo asked what type of <br />checking we did when hiring. Gus explained that a Cori check was required. <br />VI. ADJOURNMENT - Terrie Cook made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 PM. <br />Kim Whitney seconded.
