V. NEW BUSINESS 1. Operating Budget - 1998 - Guidelines for the coming year will not affect salaries because of contracts with Unions. However, expense of $22,000 for the Department will be level funded. Gus would like to move around some of the money and use it in the Recreation Equipment category. Putting in new backstop at Heritage Park. Put in Team benches and fences. Will put in money to add additional fencing around the playground area Ray Martini puts Town Hall Budget together for expenses. We are looking at putting on a new roof and tiling the bathroom and also doing something to the flooring. The rug is wearing out again. Looking at tiling and area rugs. Windows also need to be replaced. Pat Riley would like to see the field changed because of the direct sun when the kids are playing. Gus said that he spoke with Corinne Wickel regarding lights at the field. They have a Light Committee. 2. Winter Program - Gus passed out new program brochure. Kids Klub programs are in a separate brochure. There are approximately 153 participants in the Grade 1-6 Youth Basketball Program. We will send out another flyer after high school teams are selected. Gus mentioned that a new instructor has been hired for our After -School Program. He is a teaching assistant that works at Stone Middle School in Bourne. He also has a special needs background. Also another young lady will work 3 days per work in the After School Program. She is a recent graduate and has experience working with juvenile delinquents. She will work with the younger group. Bob Tippo asked what type of checking we did when hiring. Gus explained that a Cori check was required. VI. ADJOURNMENT - Terrie Cook made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 PM.
