LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING <br />JANUARY 149 1997 <br />MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL <br />Present: <br />Sheila Arnold <br />Kim Whitney <br />Terrie Cook <br />Pat Riley <br />Linda Young <br />Joleen Shultzabarger <br />Absent: <br />Ken Marsters <br />Pat Antonellis <br />Also Present: <br />Gus Frederick <br />John Williams <br />I. OPENING OF MEETING - Sheila Arnold opened the meeting at 6:30 PM. <br />II. WELCOME - New Member - Pat Antonellis was welcomed, and her resume was <br />shown. She was teaching at Fisher and was unable to attend. <br />III. MINUTES Jerrie Cook made a motion to approve the minutes of the meetings of <br />11/5/96 and 12/3/96. Pat Riley seconded. Motion carried. <br />IV. COMMUNICATIONS -None at this time. <br />VI. OLD BUSINESS <br />1. Mashnee School Usage - Calendar - A notice was sent to principals to keep <br />communication open and be aware of any changes that happen. Teme is still concerned <br />with lack of security. Ad will be in paper on 1/17/97 for two building supervisors. <br />2. Capital Budget -Gus mentioned that Leisure Services' priority is a 15 passenger <br />van; expansion of Rec. Building. We did not receive the Grant for the Rec. Building <br />because we did not show that we met the criteria. We will apply again next year for <br />expansion of building. Good possibility that we could get van this year. <br />3. Operating Budget - Gus showed budget The main increase is in salaries <br />including a 19 hour new position. Money put in equipment area for new playground - new <br />at Attaquin, expanded playground at Heritage. <br />4. Revolving Account - Ongoing paper account up to date - computer program 30 - <br />60 days late. Can have at end of fiscal year $15,000 in account. L Y took some losses. <br />Tried various programs some of which did not work and will not be done again. Kids <br />Klub figures are here also. Update on Kids Klub - 12 students in Kids Klub Pre-school <br />afternoon program. New license for after-school program is on the way. We also want to <br />expand after-school program to middle school so it will be at K. C. Coombs and Middle <br />School. New hire for 4th - 6th grade group. <br />5. Recreation Plan - Met last week and needs a bit more information. Hope to have <br />it ready for next meeting. <br />6. "Friends Of' - Still on "hold", unable to contact Linda Murtha. <br />7. SSWcial Events - Holiday House Decorating Contest - Had fun doing this <br />contest. Ten houses were entered. Will need to take a youth with us next year. Gave <br />prizes out that night. <br />
