• of adult softball leagues.
- Running Track
- Tennis Courts
- Theater/arts center- would give Mashpee the opportunity for
community theater for children and adults. He also suggested an
outdoor area for concerts.
- Library - suggested having easy access to the outside. Dr.
DeMoura does not have a problem with students and community using
facility at same time. This would be a community decision.
- Drivers Education- designed for many uses of the area.
-Planetarium - this would be particularly beneficial for summer
residents.
Mr. Griffin asked how the proposed arts center off of Rte 151
will interact with this plan? The people involved with the
proposed arts center plan a very high tech, top of the line,
professional theater that may not be appropriate for high school
students. They also plan a heavy schedule for the theater.
Tom Fudala presented a map onto which he plotted where the Middle
School students live. Majority is off of Rte 130/Cotuit Road
area. Santuit Pond Estates has 45 kids alone.
Chairman Dinizio thanked Dr. DeMoura and Mr. Fredericks for all
• of their work. They have given the Committee many good ideas.
He asked them to get the word out to the community to build
support and to get information/ideas flowing to help with the
design.
OLD BUSINESS
Chairman Dinizio explained the contract with DRA was sent to the
town' s lawyer, who generated another one which is being reviewed
by DRA. The Executive Secretary expects it back later this week.
The Selectmen voted to accept the $48,000 bid and enter into
contract negotiations with the Architectural firm of DRA.
UPDATE ON APPRAISALS
Bob Mills explained that O' Leary and Coleman have proposed to
work together on appraisals for the 2 sites. He is waiting for
their final written proposal . The appraisers would like to walk
the sites before preparing their written proposal and expect to
do that on Friday and have the proposal to the Committee on
Tuesday.
This site (Davis School ) will require 16 separate appraisals and
the 151 site will require 4. Carl Grassetti (owner of one
parcel ) has offered all of his topographical maps for their use.
They expect their work to be completed by Mid-September.
The Committee will send a memo to Conservation Agent Bob Sherman
. asking him to cooperate with the appraisers. Bob Mills will call
the appraisers and ask them to contact Bob Sherman.
4
