. The Committee agreed that DRA must know about the changed
location for the proposed arts center. Does the plan for the
performing arts center compromise that site as the best choice
for a high school?
Dr. DeMoura spoke with one of the developers of the arts center
and suggested some type of combination with the school department
but they did not agree, they want it strictly private.
APPRAISAL
Chairman Dinizio explained Koppleman & Paige contacted him
regarding the appraisal contract. They think the Committee may
have gone outside of the procedure; they should have issued an
RFP for the services. Mr. O' Leary has stopped working on the
project.
Tom talked with Town Counsel who suggested the appraisers
contract can be worked into DRA's contract, if DRA is amenable to
that arrangement. Town Counsel will be faxing a letter today
explaining that.
DISCUSSION WITH DRA
Carl Franceschi and Gary Larson were present from DRA. They have
met with their traffic consultants and geotechnical engineers.
Traffic consultants - have reviewed access to the sites with DRA
• and they know the size of the proposed school . They have
information on some of the intersections and will be generating
numbers in the next few weeks.
The Rte 130 Great Neck Rd . intersection is already under study as
part of the Costco project and is planned for signalization .
The 151 site will also need signalization . They have information
on trip counts from the Fields Point/Stop and Shop project.
The traffic engineer will enumerate the positives and negatives
of both sites. They will make recommendations as if both sites
are being developed.
Bill Jones asked if, using the supplied demographics, can they
give the relative cost of busing the students, per mile?
Mr. Franceschi said they can work with the Superintendent's
office on that.
Geogtechnical engineers- have worked in the area before and have
some shared information. The logistics of how to get on the
property has to be worked out. The consultants (GZA) will draft
a letter asking for permission onto the site. They do not have a
problem sending a letter saying they plan to be on the property
on a certain date and unless they hear from the owner they will
assume it is ok. They would like to know if the town feels
comfortable with that approach.
•
2
ill
