(S.C. 9/5/07)
SCHOOL COMMITTEE STATEMENT REGARDING CONSISTENT ATT NDANCE
The School Committee believes that school attendance is critical to student hievement.
As a result, we strongly discourage the taking of family vacations when sc of is in session.
We believe this t be detrimental to your child's progress. In situations w ere a vacation
must be taken wh school is in session, we ask that the school principa e notified.
Our experience has hown that providing assignments to be done d a vacation is
not productive. Suc school work undermines the quality of the vac ion and is generally
not a productive edu tional exercise. For this reason, we do not r uire teachers to design
any out of school acti 'ties for students while on vacation. Stude is are held accountable
to make up any school\officSign
issed when they return.
TS/GUARDIANS AND ITORS
Upon arrival at the schin doors, a visitor must rithe buzzer for admittance.
Once the buzzer soundsitor will enter the door the right and must report
immediately to the maiSign in is required an a visitor's badge will be issued.
When leaving the vi sign out in the mai office and return the visitor's badge.
Classes are in sess :SOam until 3:2 m. Parents/guardians may make
appointments to seeche either before hool, eF after school or during a
designated time detby ents/guar ans and teacher. As impromptu visits
disrupt the learning process of all tnu nts r the classroom,we require
parents/guardians to make appoin ents. e prohibit spontaneous visits to the
classroom once school is in session.
• Any unauthorized parent/guardian/visi r; i.e.,without badges, will be considered
trespassing. Unauthorized persons wi ut badges will be stopped by school personnel
and asked to report to the office. An one efusing will be considered a trespasser and
appropriate action will be taken.
• Visitors wishing to observe a spec' is class m st make arrangements with the principal
and the teacher at least a day prio to the visit.
• Students cannot bring friends to chool since the chool cannot assume responsibility
for the friends.
• When a parent/guardian drop off school-related ite s, the items must be left at the
Main Office and must be cle ly labeled with the chil ' name and the teacher's name.
Parents/guardians will not b allowed to personally brin items to the classroom. This
interrupts educational time takes the teacher away from e children, interrupts the
classroom activity and pre ents a safety issue for the childr and staff.
• Animals are not permitte excepting for very specific purpos such as for science
class. Classroom pets ar not permitted. Also, please keep pet t home when
transporting your child o and from school. Pets should not be in school or on school
grounds due to safety r asons.
STUDENTS ATTENDING MASHPEE SCHOOLS MUST
BE MASHPEE RESIDENTS
Upon registration,parents/guardians must provide required proofs of residency.
14
