District Culture, Values, & Beliefs About Learning
Based upon a review of both qualitative and quantitative data, the following Major
Findings/Trends have emerged:
• Students and parents alike value the relationships that have been formed with
MPSD teaching staff. There is a pervasive, strong sense of personalization of
instruction in all four schools. Students and parents repetitively cite that teachers
are readily accessible and respond to their needs in a proactive, timely fashion.
• Students and parents describe a caring, dedicated staff, one that very much
cultivates a"sense of family" at the elementary schools. Students note that there is
a sense of belonging where kids feel safe and welcome. Students cite that their
teachers are approachable and encouraging. My classroom observations confirm
this sentiment.
• There is pride in the district by both parents and community members. The quality
of the facilities is often noted, citing pride in the Mashpee High School facility as
well as the cleanliness of the K.C. Coombs and Quashnet Schools.
• Many staff members believe in "meeting kids where they are" and providing
supports for all learners so they may be successful. Teachers at all levels give
students multiple opportunities to meet content and performance standards. This
is also evidenced by successful Response-to-Intervention structures and practices
at all levels.
• Staff, students, parents, and community members alike want a superintendent and
school administrators that are highly visible and
approachable. There is a clear expectation that
„1 have always had administrators be present at key district events,
such as concerts,athletic events,celebrations,
fantastic and co-curricular activities.
accessibility to
• Parents are somewhat pleased by the end
teachers... 1 love product of the MPSD. Many parents share
what they do with anecdotes about their child's post-secondary
PowerSchool and academic successes due to the foundation that
maintaining their was laid in the MPSD's schools. They are also
impressed with the district's strong offerings in
own websites. — both the visual, performing and technical arts.
Mashpee parent
• Staff and parents are hungry for
innovation.
