Article 25 continues. . . . . . .
Mr Lund: you will give him a half hour. . .the best fishing is the early
evening. Lets think of the person who lives on the side and pays taxes
He does not. want to hear buzzing all eventing. Let' s not onl* think of
* the water skier.
Vincent "Cuddy" Lopez: I am a fisherman, also and I have waited all
day long many days for the water skiers to slow down and for boats
to slow down and to stop racing in and out of the Spit. And here they
come after dark even. I have seen them go by the buoys and try to run
them over and they can not even see. Someone is going to get hurt if
you let them ski too late. I think we deserve a little bit of con-
sideration after waiting all day.
Voter: I have spent the last few months stu(ying the needs and desires
of the senior citizens, of which I am one, and peace and quiet at
certain times are very important to us. ; especially if we are fortunate
enough to live on the water.
Mr Malone: This Article was brought up in the Taxpayers Association
meeting; with all sections of Town represented and unanimously re-
commended this Article be approved.
All those in favor say aye; opposed no
Article 25 has been accepted as printed.
Article 26
The Moderator read Article 26
Article 26.
To see if the town will vote to amend Section 4.7.5 of the
Town By-Laws by adding thereto the following new subsection:
"e. No person shall operate a jet ski on any river, harbor,
cove, pond, lake, inland waterway or any portion thereof
which lies within the Town of Mashpee or within 200 yards
of any bather, any ocean beach or portion thereof which
lies within the Town of Mashpee" , or take any action relating
thereto.
Mr Lund: .I move this Article be accepted as read; exceptingthe phrase"
"pr take any action relating thereto".
Motion seconded
Mrs Lentell: It seems unfair that those who have a large investment in
recreational vehicles should denied the use of the waterways. Autos
are not outlawed frogâ–ş roadways for those persons who disobey laws.
The key word is enforcement. There is nothing posted on any ponds or
waterways about jet-skis. ; how they are supposed to be run. Nothing is
posted at all on any of the waterways.
Lew Schwaktz: We had incidents last year ; two in front of me, where
people were almost killed. There does not seem any way to follow thru
and file a complaint. The young lady is right; until we have some way
to enforce this we need to take this step.
All those in favor say aye; opposed no
Article 26 is voted.
