Recommendation: Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> Motion made by Nancy Caffyn. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to raise and appropriate $2,000 to the Police Department Domestic Violence <br /> Account. <br /> Motion passes at 8:44 p.m. <br /> Article 18 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to transfer by sale or lease, a two acre, more <br /> or less,portion of that Town-owned land shown on the 1997 Mashpee Assessors'Maps as Map 81, Blocks 18 <br /> and 21, approximately as shown on a plan entitled "Proposed Land Transfer to Mashpee Water District 5-98" <br /> which is on file in the office of the Town Clerk, to the Mashpee Water District and to authorize the Board of <br /> Selectmen to execute a deed or lease therefor on such terms as they shall deem proper, which shall make said <br /> transfer of land contingent upon funding by the Water District for the construction of a Water District office <br /> facility on the site; and further, vote that such land shall not be held by the Town as conservation land pursuant <br /> to the provisions of Section 5-27 of the Town By-Laws; and further, vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen <br /> to petition the General Court for special legislation authorizing such sale or lease, notwithstanding any <br /> provisions of the General laws to the contrary; and finally, vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to enter <br /> into any agreements and execute any and all instruments as may be necessary on behalf of the Town to <br /> effectuate such conveyance, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by Board of Selectmen <br /> Explanation: This article would authorize the Board of Selectmen to lease or sell to the Mashpee Water <br /> District approximately two acres of land, from an 11 acre Town-owned parcel located on Route 28,just north of j <br /> the home of Mr. Karl F. Mills and the Madaket Place office condominiums, for the purpose of constructing a <br /> Water District office building. <br /> Recommendation: Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> Motion made by George Costa. <br /> Motion: I move Article 18 be voted as printed in the warrant, with the exception of the phrase, "or take any <br /> other action relating thereto." <br /> Motion passes 293 to 32at 8:50 p.m. <br /> Article 19 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to acquire,by purchase or otherwise, for conservation <br /> Purposes, all or a portion of a certain parcel of land, being that land shown as lots 1 through 11, "Open Space I", <br /> "Parcel B", "Drainage Parcel B", "Drainage Parcel C" and a portion of Back Road on a "Subdivision Plan of <br /> Land Prepared For MacDonald Land Trust in Mashpee, Mass." by Holmes and McGrath, Inc., dated July 12, <br /> 1989,also being shown on the 1996 Mashpee Assessors'Maps as Map 42, Block 24, containing 20.5 acres, <br /> more or less, located between John's Pond, Back Road and Moody Pond,to be held in the care and custody of <br /> the Conservation Commission pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40, Section 8C; and further, to <br />
