<br /> To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and transfer$25,000 from the Cranberry Bog Reserved Receipts
<br /> Account to the Bog/Operation and Maintenance Account, or take any other action related thereto.
<br /> Submitted by the Conservation Commission
<br /> Explanation: The Town's share of the 1997 crop was approximately$97,500. The intent of this $25,000
<br /> transfer is to fund the salary of the Cranberry Bog Attendant(approximately$5,000), to begin design studies for
<br /> a new flume at Johns Pond(where the Quashnet River emanates) and for any contingencies involved with the
<br /> problem of EDB contamination at the Quashnet Bogs. The remainder of the $97,500 is the subject of another
<br /> transfer to fund our Interpretive Tour Program and to buy, maintain and improve Conservation Lands.

<br /> To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to acquire,by purchase or otherwise, for conservation
<br /> purposes, all or a portion of a certain parcel of land,being that land shown on a"Plan of Land in Mashpee of
<br /> Edwin White"by Charles Savery dated October 15, 1970, also being shown on the 1997 Mashpee Assessors'
<br /> Maps as Map 53, Block 2, containing 16.85 acres,more or less, located between the Mashpee River and the
<br /> west side of Meetinghouse Road,just north of the intersection of the latter with Hanson Drive, to be held in the
<br /> care and custody of the Conservation Commission pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40, Section
<br /> 8Q and further, to see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate,borrow, or transfer from available funds
<br /> $185,000 for such purpose, including expenses incidental and related thereto, and to raise such appropriation,
<br /> the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen be authorized to borrow $185,000 or any other sum under and
<br /> pursuant to Chapter 44, Sections 7 and 8C and if applicable, Chapter 40, Section 8C of the General Laws, or
<br /> any other enabling authority, and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor; and further, to see if the Town
<br /> will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds $400 to the Issuance of Debt Account; and
<br /> further, to see if the Town will authorize the Board of Selectmen and/or Conservation Commission to apply for
<br /> and accept Federal, State and/or County grants, including reimbursement under Chapter 132A, Section 11 of
<br /> the General Laws, the "Self-Help Act" and/or grants under Barnstable County's "Cape Cod Pathways"
<br /> Program, to be applied by the Town toward the financing of this purchase, and to enter into contracts or
<br /> agreements with Federal, State and/or County agencies,private conservation trusts or other entities or persons
<br /> in connection with the purchase of such land and its preservation for conservation purposes ; and finally, to see
<br /> if the Town will authorize the Conservation Commission and the Board of Selectmen to enter into agreements
<br /> and execute any and all instruments as may be necessary on behalf of the Town to effectuate said acquisition; or
<br /> take any other action related thereto.
