MINUTES August 10, 1988 Page 3.
• ALAN MENDLESON - Requests an Appeal of the Building Inspector's decision
on a sign permit on property located at Summerfield Park (Route 28)
(Map 88, Lot.2) Mashpee, MA.
Members sitting: R. Halpern, C. Hawver, E. Govoni
Mr. Mendleson presented plans for a sign made of stained glass
with the name of Alan identified on it. Mr. Boyd explained that the
Design Review Committee was opposed to the glass sign since the property
already had one approved sign. Mr. Mendleson said he considered the
sign a decorative art object of glass rather than a sign.
Mr. Halpern informed the Board that Southcape Industrial Park had
sent letters to the Board voicing opposition to Alan Industries use
of trailers and tents on the property.
Mrs. Hawver moved to permit the use of one sign only on the exterior
of the property and that sign would require the approval of the Design..
Review Committee. Mr. Govoni seconded. All agreed.
Mr. Govoni moved that the Board instruct the Building Inspector
to act on the letters of 7/24 and 8/10 from Southcape Industrial Park
regarding the violations of the zoning by-laws attributed to Alan Industries.
Mr. Halpern seconded. All agreed.
PAK LAM TAM - Requests a Special Permit under Section 6.3.1.9 of
the Land Use Requirements for construction of a stairwell and fixed
pier on Mashpee Pond at property located at Lot 4.Sturgis Lane (Map 20,
Lot 46) Mashpee, MA.
Members sitting: R. Halpern, C. Hawver, E. Govoni
Mr. George Thorng of Arrow. Engineering represented the Petition.
Mr. Halpern read a letter from an abutter, Barnett B. Berliner, stating
that he had no opposition to the pier. He also reviewed letters from
the Conservation and Inland Coastal Waterways Committees in opposition
to a fixed pier because of ice action in fresh water. Both Committees
suggested that a removable pier would cause less disruption to the
shoreline.
Mr. Halpern moved to continue to September 14. Ms. Hawver seconded.
All agreed.
GEORGE C. LEACH - Requests a Variance and Special Permit under
Sections 7.7, 11, 11C and 5 of the Zoning By-laws for permission to
construct a bulkhead in front of an existing deteriorating retaining
wall on Hamblin Pond on property located at Lots 9 and 10 Monomoscoy
Road (Map 114, Lots 9 and 10) Mashpee, MA.
Members sitting: R. Halpern, E. Govoni, C. Hawver
• Attorney Brian Garner and Engineer Dave Sinicki represented the
Petition. Mr. Garner explained that Mr. Leach has owned the property
since 1931 and had built the retaining wall which is now in disrepair.
He is seeking the Variance and Special Permit for permission to buttress
the wall and repair it and extend further along his property line. Mr.
