10 <br /> • Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> June 3, 2002 <br /> COMMUNICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Matt Patrick re: Consulting Services: <br /> Representative Patrick presented price quotations to the Selectmen for <br /> consultant, Kay Davis to discuss the Federal Recognition/Sovereign <br /> Nation issue in public forum. Mr. Patrick indicated that he would be <br /> unable to contribute funding for the consulting services. The matter was <br /> taken under advisement at this time. The information will be copied to the <br /> Selectmen for additional review and discussion. <br /> Library Correspondence: <br /> Correspondence was received from the Library Expansion Committee <br /> dated May 8, 2002 relative to projected revenue estimates for the building <br /> project. It was noted that the Board of Selectmen voted to support a <br /> $3,000,000 appropriation for the expansion of the Library. The vote of <br /> support included any applicable state funding related to the building <br /> • project proposal. <br /> The Library Expansion Committee in their memorandum state that the <br /> figure may leave a shortfall in funding the project. <br /> Joyce Mason, Town Administrator indicated that she would further <br /> discuss this matter with the building committee and return to the <br /> Selectmen with additional information. <br /> Special Counsel—Additional Fee's: <br /> Selectman Green related concern with respect to the recent invoice <br /> received from Special Legal Counsel Hale & Dorr associated to matters <br /> relative to the Federal Recognition/Sovereign Nation issue. <br /> Selectman Green indicated that he was unaware of the research being <br /> conducted by counsel without a prior vote of the Board of Selectmen. It <br /> was noted that approximately $11,000 was billed to the Town. The <br /> educational sessions brought forth informational updates relative to the <br /> meaning of sovereign nation as it relates to the federal recognition process. <br /> A breakdown of the fee structure will be requested for additional review. <br /> • <br />
